The National Human Rights Commission of Mozambique (Comissão Nacional de Direitos Humanos – Moçambique) and the Human Rights Commission Zambia (HRC-Z) on Monday 6th October 2025 exchanged best practices in human rights promotion and protection when the former visited Zambia on a two-day visit to explore opportunities for enhanced collaboration between the two institutions.
The two Commissions exchanged information on a wide range of issues, including the legal frameworks governing their establishment and operations; compliance with United Nations Paris Principles, existing regional and international collaborative mechanisms for National Human Rights Institutions (NHRIs), structural and administrative constraints faced by NHRIs and explored opportunities to deepen their collaboration.
The delegation from the National Human Rights Commission of Mozambique was encouraged by the work of HRC-Z which earned it an “A” status – the highest accreditation conferred by the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions (GANHRI) to National Human Rights Institutions that fully comply with the Paris principles.
