The Human Rights Commission of Zambia (HRC-Z) has received Information and Communication Technology (ICT) equipment, including a server and 133 mobile phones, from the European Centre for Electoral Support (ECES) to strengthen its election monitoring capacity and enhance its Early Warning and Early Response (EWER) System ahead of the 2026 General Election.
The ICT equipment was handed over on 22nd July 2026 at the ECES offices in Kabulonga, Lusaka.
The support has been provided through the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) under the Deepening Democracy in Zambia Project, which seeks to strengthen democratic governance and promote peaceful, credible and inclusive electoral processes.
Speaking after the handover, HRC-Z Director of Complaints and Investigations Mr. Shakespeare Siatakwi said the donation will enhance the Commission’s work in monitoring and reporting election-related human rights violations through its Early Warning and Early Response (EWER) System during the elections period and beyond.
