HRC-Z resolves 66 human rights cases

The Human Rights Commission–Zambia (HRC-Z) has resolved 66 out of 100 alleged human rights violation cases reviewed during its Commission Cases Review Meeting held from 27 to 28 October 2026.

Speaking during a press briefing, Chairperson Dr Pamela Towela Sambo said 34 cases remained under active consideration, with 83 cases involving the right to protection of the law and personal liberty.

The review revealed concerns including prolonged detention, delays in court proceedings, children detained alongside adults, restrictive police bond conditions and violations of workers’ rights.

Dr Sambo called on responsible institutions to address recurring violations and urged members of the public to report human rights concerns through the Commission’s toll-free line 8181.
