On 30th April 2026, the President of the Zambian Archives and Records Management Association (ZARMA), Mr. Abel M’kulama, paid a courtesy visit to the Human Rights Commission of Zambia (HRC-Z) to explore opportunities for collaboration to improve records management in public institutions in order to enhance citizens’ right to access information.
Mr. M’kulama was welcomed by the HRC-Z Director of Education, Training and Advocacy, Mr. Mweelwa Muleya, who emphasized the Commission’s commitment to fostering partnerships that enhance the implementation of the Access to Information (ATI) Act, No. 24 of 2023.
During the meeting, the two institutions exchanged views on the need to ensure public institutions improveed their records management systems to facilitate access to information.
In attendance during the engagement were ZARMA General Secretary, Mr. Sipho Banda, HRC-Z Legal and Compliance Director Mr. Tyson Mudenda, HRC-Z Registra Mr. Mahape Libakeni and Legal Counsel Ms. Lilly Chipeta.
The engagement underscored the important role that ZARMA would play in the implementation of ATI Act.
