The Human Rights Commission of Zambia (HRC-Z) has continued to advance its mandate of promoting and protecting human rights through strategic engagement with key government institutions across the country.
In line with this commitment, the Commission has been engaging government leaders in Provinces in order to strengthen inter-institutional collaboration and reinforcing shared responsibilities in the protection of human rights.
On 10th February 2026, Commission Director General, Ms. Mbololwa Wamunyima paid courtesy calls on key government institutions in North-Western Province as part of the ongoing efforts to strengthen collaboration in the promotion and protection of human rights.
Ms. Wamunyima was accompanied by the Director of Human Resource and Administration, Mr. Tekana Sichone and officers from the Commission’s Provincial office in Solwezi, Ms. Leah Mulenga and Mr. Morgan Chilenga.
The team first paid a courtesy call on the Provincial Administration Office, where they met the Permanent Secretary for North-Western Province, Colonel Grandson Wishikoli Katambi. The engagement provided an opportunity for the Commission and the Provincial Administration to discuss areas of mutual cooperation in advancing human rights in the Province.
The delegation also visited the Zambia Correctional Service, where they held discussions with the Regional Commanding Officer, Senior Assistant Commissioner Mr. Alfred Kalota.
The purpose of the courtesy calls was to reinforce partnerships between the Human Rights Commission and the two institutions, which are key stakeholders in safeguarding human rights in North-Western Province.
The Commission remains committed to working closely with government institutions and other stakeholders to ensure the effective promotion and protection of human rights for all Zambians.
